You'll create the real-time visual effects that sell every spell, impact and moment of spectacle — from abilities and combat hits to fog, embers and crumbling ruins. Working hand-in-hand with combat, animation and art, you'll make effects that feel powerful, readable and grounded.
What you'll do
- Author real-time VFX for combat, magic and abilities — impacts, projectiles, auras and destruction — in Unreal Engine (Niagara).
- Craft atmospheric and environmental effects — fog, embers, dust, weather — that reinforce mood and readability.
- Partner with combat, animation and design so effects land with the right timing, weight and game feel.
- Keep effects performant and consistent across different hardware platforms.
What we're looking for
- A portfolio of real-time VFX with strong impact, timing and readability.
- Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine and Niagara (or a comparable real-time system).
- A sharp eye for motion, colour and composition under gameplay conditions.
- Comfortable balancing visual quality against performance budgets.
Nice to have
- Shader / material authoring (HLSL or node-based).
- Houdini or other procedural / simulation experience.
What you can count on
Flat structure
No layers between you and the work. The best idea wins — whoever it comes from.
Hybrid, flexible & remote
Most roles are hybrid, and many can be fully remote — so you don't have to move. We trust you to do great work on hours that fit your life.
Crafted with Iceland
A lot of what we make is shaped by the land itself — captured on location and built at home in Reykjavík.
Hands-on craft
Much of it made under our own roof — performance capture, scanning and an original score.
Real ownership
On a team this size your work ships, and your fingerprints are all over it.
Made for players
We build the games we'd stay up all night to play. We're betting you would too.
