Myrkur at ICAT-EGVE 2016

The 26th International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence (ICAT 2016) and the 21st Eurographics Symposium on Virtual Environments (EGVE 2016) was held December 7-9 2016 in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. Myrkur was invited to demonstrate our full body VR technology at ICAT-EGVE 2016. Innovative research, groundbreaking products, pioneering concepts and hands-on experiences in the disciplines of virtual reality, augmented reality, teleexistence, and 3D user interfaces are what ICAT/EGVE is all about. More information about ICAT-EGVE can be found here.

The SomaVR project was originally developed as part of Myrkur’s founder’s studies at Reykjavík University (before it became Myrkur). The project was developed under the excellent guidance of Hannes Högni Vilhjálmsson and David James Thue, at Reykjavík University. Demonstration of SomaVR was very well received and participants of our demonstration expressed interest and excitement. The conference proved an excellent opportunity to network and meet academics from all around the world specializing in virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence. Having experts observe and give feedback on our work helped us gain perspective on our project and refine our goals to make our project meet the toughest standards.
